A Celebration of all Things Hobbit - Hobbit Day!

A Celebration of all Things Hobbit - Hobbit Day!

As the leaves start to turn and Halloween approaches, we begin to think about all things fantasy. What better time, then, to celebrate Hobbit Day? This fun holiday takes place on September 22nd (the date of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' birthdays in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth) and is a great excuse for Tolkien fans to celebrate all things Hobbit! Here are some ideas on how you can join in the festivities.

Hobbit Day Activities:

One of the most popular ways to celebrate Hobbit Day is by hosting a Hobbit-themed party. You can decorate your home with Gandalf's staff, hobbit-hole doorways, and colorful banners. Serve up some traditional Hobbit fare like a second breakfast or elevenses, and don't forget the ale! If you want to take things one step further, you can even dress up like your favorite character from The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings.

If hosting a party is not your thing, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate. Why not marathon the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy (or even just The Hobbit)? You could also read through The Silmarillion or any of Tolkien's other works set in Middle-earth. And if you're feeling creative, you could try your hand at writing your own fan fiction or making some hobbit-themed art. No matter how you choose to celebrate, make sure you have a fun and memorable Hobbit Day!
